Trojan viruses have gone through several stages of development before achieving the current state of perfection. Modern Trojans, unlike their predecessors years ago, are able to exploit security vulnerabilities in Windows operating system and installed software. Bugs in security software, ubiquity of unsafe browsers and email clients, outdated detection algorithms in antivirus programs allow viruses to creep into seemingly well-protected computers. That’s why decent protection against Trojans still is not perfect, and infections occur. If you paid attention to statistics published by various security labs (e.g. Kaspersky, Bit Defender, etc) then you certainly notices that Trojan viruses are amongst most active malware types on the web. Therefore sooner or later most PC users begin searching for advice on how to remove Trojan malware. Tight budgets and strong belief in the ubiquity of freeware programs make people search for free Trojan virus removal tools. Though in several categories of software free versions don’t really impress with features and usability, in case with free Trojan cleaners it’s whole lot different. There are tools to choose from, there are effective tools and there are no charges whatsoever. It’s worth noting that Trojans are not like other viruses, therefore popular antivirus programs and Internet Security Suites often are helpless at Trojan removal, not speaking about poor detection capabilities. OEM computers and laptops with pre-installed software are immediately exposed to this specific type of threats as soon as web connection is established. A common approach to PC security ensured by antivirus and firewall no longer works as expected – it’s not sufficient anymore. This is the reason why some software makers concentrated on creating a whole new type of software that would target Trojans and other threats not covered by standard PC security shields. Emsisoft released a multi-functional anti-malware that targets a number of popular threats – well over 1 million in number. Trojans, of course, are among detectable infections. It’s worth noting that a-squared anti-malware exists in several editions: a set of files for USB drives, a command-line scanner, and light version of the main product. All the 3 editions of a-squared software can be used for free Trojan virus removal depending on particular case of computer contamination. Advanced users may prefer to work in command prompt environment, while USB scanner is suitable in situations when infected computer has no Internet connection and updates cannot be downloaded. Malwarebyte’s presents its anti-malware program in a classic Windows design that existed before Windows XP. The program is so simple that even beginners won’t need consulting help files. The freeware edition lacks real-time protection module, but otherwise it features same scanning technology as commercial product, and helps to address various computer issues caused by Trojan infections. SUPERAntiSpyware, despite its boasting name, is one of the very few software manufacturers to offer a completely free yet featured application. It’s a lot more than a mere Trojan remover; updates to the scanning engine released several times a year clearly signify how much effort programmers put into developing this product. Apart from companies releasing free versions to support the marketing of paid products, there is a number of tools created by volunteer programmers and teams of IT experts. One of such tools with long history and gained reputation is SpyBot Search & Destroy. For years this product has remained #1 recommended by fans of free software. Sunbelt, previously well-known mostly in the enterprise world, teamed up and created a business-class software for desktops. Its CounterSpy (recently integrated with Vipre antivirus), though being a commercial antispyware, is available as a 15-day free trial. Not suitable for long-term protection because of this time limitation, CounterSpy is a fully functional trial that supports both detection and malware removal. Unlike many other products promoted with much hype as “free scanners” without removal options, CounterSpy in trial version is just as good at removing Trojan viruses as its commercial edition. For owners of laptops who travel a lot and use Internet connection extensively in airports, CounterSpy is worth evaluating. The price of data stored on the hard drive cannot be compared to Sunbelt’s professional protection. Apart from products with generous anti-malware databases, there are available tools that target a small number of Trojan viruses and other threats. An example of such is G-Data’s antivirus tool designed to identify and remove most disastrous trojan viruses currently going wild on the web, Virtumonde and Zlob being especially notorious. G-Data designed their free Trojan cleaner so that it doesn’t require installation. Double-clicking on the executable file is all that’s needed to start the anti-trojan scan. I intentionally omitted antivirus programs that are available in freeware editions. After helping out a number of PC users worldwide to solve the consequences of Trojan infections I can conclude that in most cases attacked computers had some kind of updated antivirus onboard. IT experts know well that antivirus protection doesn’t cover Trojan threats as many expect, but I want to make it clear for users with less experience that one day a good cleaner to remove trojan virus may be needed to scan a computer equipped with antivirus. And many of us would like it to be a freeware tool.Permalink to Free Trojan Virus Removal Without Expert Help
