Although AOL have laid the Netscape browser to rest, it has been reincarnated elsewhere.

The new kid on the block is SeaMonkey, which takes off where Netscape left off.

Like Netscape, SeaMonkey is a suite of programs including an Internet browser, email & newsgroup client, HTML editor, IRC chat and web development tools.
You can see the heritage of the SeaMonkey components in their names (The HTML editor, Composer, for example which also makes reference to “Navigator” in some of its messages), and in its button icons. The most familiar being the ship’s wheel.

Development of SeaMonkey is ongoing, so it should be around for some time to come.

So if you are lamenting the demise of Netscape, get over to The Sea Monkey Project where you can download Netscape’s cousin.
